Sagen Snyder, BA

PLMHP PLMSW

Sagen Snyder (she/they) is completing her practicum with Infinite Change as a graduate student in Clinical Social Work through the Grace Abbott School of Social Work
with the University of Nebraska-Omaha (CSWE-Accredited). Throughout her program, Sagen has focused her study on the application of the biopsychosocial model within mental health care, and the integration of culturally-cognizant practice into both clinical and social justice-focused social work. Sagen is supervised by Diane Wagner.

Sagen obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Mental Health Emphasis from Doane University. Following graduation from Doane’s undergraduate program, Sagen began a career with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Nebraska, where she has worked with refugee resettlement and child welfare for the past decade. Through this work, Sagen discovered a passion for supporting healthy development, especially mental health, in children and adolescents. Their career at DHHS has informed Sagen’s strengths-based, trauma-sensitive, and culturally diverse approach, particularly in those cases where Sagen helped youth and families navigate the most challenging moments of their lives.

Sagen also has expertise in the areas of adoption and transitional living through her work as an Adoption/Permanency Specialist Case Manager. As a biracial adoptee herself, Sagen understands the spectrum of emotions and experiences one encounters throughout this process. In her professional work with adoptees and their families, Sagen has helped individuals navigate family dynamic transitions, adoption-related trauma, and the varying types of encounters and nuanced emotions that can come with contacting biological family. Sagen provides a warm and open environment for exploring adoption matters, ensuring that the process is handled with the sensitivity it requires.

Sagen is also wholly invested in serving and supporting LGBTQ+ youth and their families by providing services that are evidence-based, gender affirmative, and inclusive of diverse relationship structures. They enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, family relationships, parenting challenges, and sexual health. Sagen incorporates CBT, DBT, and Family Systems approaches, among others, into her counseling practices.
